Tips For Using Damask Stitch: 

We love to use this stitch for water, skies, and for smaller details like bird wings.

It creates a textured, woven-like effect. 

A good filler stitch for both large and small areas.

This is a directional stitch, and a "flow" will be created in your stitched areas. 

Our favorite fibers to use for this stitch are strandable silk, Silk Road Fiber or any kind of flat ribbon or overdye.
